A convenient half way point for the river journey from the Thai/Lao border at Huay Xai and the beautiful town of Luang Prabang. This is a small village populated by mostly lowland Lao, Thai Leung, and a small number of Hmong tribespeople.
The village itself is home to a cluster of lodges and guesthouses for travellers, but there is a small local market which may be interesting for visitors to explore if they rise early in the morning. Views over the Mekong at sunset and sunrise are very beautiful.
